Soil  Laboratory

Soil science laboratory is functioning under Forest Management Division of the Institute. This laboratory is equipped with pH meter, electrical conductivity meter, flame photometer, visible spectrophotometer and pelican analyzer for nitrogen analysis and it is capable of analyzing of soil macro and micro nutrients as pH, electrical conductivity, organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, water holding capacity and micro nutrient zinc, copper, iron and manganese.

The institute also has a Mobile Soil Testing Van, equipped with advanced instruments for soil analysis along with Atomic Absorbance Spectrometer (AAS). The Mobile Soil Testing Van provides on-site soil analysis facilities in different forest divisions, range offices, farmers and NGOs.

Soil Health Card and recommendation for doses of fertilizer to increase fertility in forest tree species and nurseries are provided as required.
